A woman's body floats face down in dark waters as somber cello music swells. One quick title and dissolve later and the water, sans body, is now bright and inviting. The camera pans over a picturesque coastal Croatian town. Everything is sunshine and palm trees as bright-eyed new mom Beth (Leighton Meester) makes her way by taxi to a girls weekend away with best friend Kate (Christina Wolfe).

Taxi is an American sitcom that originally aired from 1978 to 1982 on ABC and from 1982 to 1983 on NBC. The series, which won 18 Emmy Awards, including three for "Outstanding Comedy Series", focuses on the everyday lives of a handful of New York City taxi drivers and their abusive dispatcher. The series, produced by the John Charles Walters Company, in association with Paramount Network Television, was created by James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, David Davis, and Ed. Weinberger.

Since the beginning of 2015 Tuesdays are reserved for film screenings with English subtitles! A screening program with bilingual (Croatian and English) subtitles is a response to the growing needs of our foreign audience. Every Tuesday (unless the film is already in English) one of the regularly listed films is screened with English subtitles, along with the usual Croatian ones.

The episode starts out with Randy and his girlfriend calling for taxis but failing to get one they run across the street to get a cab. In the taxi, they are making out and then all of a sudden Randy's girlfriend notices they are not moving. She then sees the taxi driver and screams because he has been killed with some kind of necklace pin in his neck.

When returning a car to the airport, there are no signs telling you where to park so we just parked in the normal parking lot and gave the ticket to the car rental agency and they moved it to the correct lot. If you want to take the Croatian Airlines bus back to the airport, it can be difficult to know when it will leave Split. Supposedly it leaves 90 minutes before scheduled (Croatian Airlines?) flights but there is no schedule posted at the bus stop so you just need to wait in that area to see if the bus shows up. You can always take a taxi as well and I noticed other smaller shuttle buses that went to the airport but they are more expensive. Or you could walk all the way back up to Sukoisan to get the local bus #37 towards Trogir.

HRT, the public television broadcaster, operates four channels, while the commercial networks RTL and Nova TV have two channels each. Foreign films and series are shown with sound in the original language (English, Turkish, German, Italian...) and Croatian subtitles. Only children's programming is dubbed. Many hotels and private apartments have some channels from other European countries (mostly from Germany).

If the weather doesn't discourage you, you may have better luck on the Babin Kuk Peninsula, just north of Dubrovnik. This area has several coves and bays that just may offer relaxing seas and picturesque views more so than Old Town. It's just a short taxi ride away and if it starts raining, you can take refuge in one of the district's many hotel restaurants or cafes.

Escape from the rain and overcast sky and go to the movies! There are three main cinemas in Dubrovnik, many from all over the world and with subtitles. Try the Sloboda Theatre (Luza 66) on the east end of the Stradun, the 3D Visia Theatre (Poljana Paska Milicevica 4) on the west end, and the Cinestar Theatre in Lapad (masarykov put 3).

Rent a bicycle or hire a taxi to take you out to Cavtat, an attractive village about 30 minutes south of Dubrovnik. The main highlight of the town is its beautiful waterfront walkway lined with ice cream shops and cafes. Another charming area is Babin Kuk peninsula, where you can enjoy a freshly caught meal at one of the dozens of top-notch hotel restaurants. 041b061a72
